  1. Just an overview 4 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Mar 2018

First off, I just got the pack a few days ago so these are just my initial impressions. I have not had a chance to load it up and take it for a hike...which, I do hike regularly, and I live in Montana near the mountains where I commonly cover rugged terrain where comfort, function, and durability are important.
I am a mom with kids so part of the function of this pack is to serve as an everyday bag to lug the kids stuff around when I am on the go. I find diaper bags a waste of time that fulfill a minimum requirement. That being, put the kid/baby stuff in and have something cute to lug, that's not my thing. I wanted something that would fulfill and exceed that. I wanted something that would double as a pack that was ready for a hike at a moment's notice. Also, I wanted something that I didn't have to worry about snagging on something and tearing, or the kids getting creative and destroying. I did look at getting a tactical diaper bag, but even those were rather one dimensional as far as serving multiple purposes.
One concern I had before ordering the bag was the shoulder bag and how tightly it clung to the bag. I didn't want something that was floppy or really loose fitting. It was obvious after I got the pack and loaded it that the shoulder bag fit nicely and wasn't floppy at all. In fact, the more I use it the more surprised I am with how functional the shoulder bag is. I will note that the hard plastic piece that helps keep the back rigid didn't fit in it's compartment that well (the plastic piece was too big). However, it is not sewn in and is in a separate velcro pocket, so I just pulled it out and trimmed it down to where it fit the pocket.
The zippers are not YKK zippers but they are very sturdy, I'm not worried about my 2 year old rendering them useless. I couldn't find any information anywhere about the thickness of the fabric used for this pack, but my guess would be a 600D polyester. This pack has plenty of MOLLE webbing (front, sides, and on the waist belt). The waist belt is removable. The sternum strap seems as though it's lower than would be useful for my build (I am 5ft 3in), but I don't use them consistently even when loaded down. The stitching appears and feel solid, more than adequate for the job.
Overall, I find the pack VERY well thought out. I would but it again. I will say the only bummer of the bag is that it's made in China. Other than that, I would recommend the pack and the brand to friends/family. Do your own research. I think you'll find the price you pay for the quality and features is hard to beat.
